Patient safety in Acute Care

Healthcare provision in acute care has come under increasing scrutiny in recent years and the safety of patients while they are cared for in acute settings is paramount. This category seeks entries from organisations that have developed initiatives to improve patient safety in acute healthcare situations. It aims to recognise innovative work that will reduce patient risk and/or will add to the evidence base surrounding patient safety in acute care, helping to build a foundation for further work.

Specific entry criteria

Entries will be judged against the following criteria:

  • Innovation - the quality and originality of the idea;
  • Results - demonstration of clear and measurable outcomes;
  • Potential - the contribution the work is likely to make to the wider development of patient safety interventions in primary care;
  • Dissemination - how the learning from the initiative has been spread to other parts of the organisation and beyond.
