Technology and IT to Improve Patient Safety

Technology can be a powerful weapon in the fight to improve patient safety and there are many examples that have had a real impact, such as patient identification systems, medicines management systems or data interpretation programmes. This category seeks examples of the innovative use of technology to address specific patient safety issues.

Specific entry criteria

Entries will be judged against the following criteria:

  • Innovation - the quality and originality of the idea;
  • Relevance - how far the project meets the national and local patient safety agenda;
  • Results - the impact and outcomes of the project;
  • Education and training - the quality of the education and training employed in introducing the initiative.
